...Robert Hayden...

Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden
and put his clothes on in the blue black cold,
then with cracked hands that ached
from labor in the weekday weather made
banked fires blaze. No one ever thanked him.
When the rooms were warm, he'd call,
and slowly I would rise and dress,
fearing the chronic angers of that house,
who had driven out the cold
and polished my good shoes as well.
What did I know, what did I know
of love's austere and lonely offices?

...Frances Cornford...

To a Fat Lady Seen From the Train by Frances Cornford
O why do you walk through the fields in gloves,
Missing so much and so much?
O fat white woman whom nobody loves,
Why do you walk through the fields in gloves,
When the grass is soft as the breast of doves
And shivering sweet to the touch?
O why do you walk through the fields in gloves,
Missing so much and so much?

The Life That I have by Leo Marks
The life that I have
is all that I have,
And the life that I have
is yours.
The love that I have
Of the life that I have
is yours, and yours, and yours.
A sleep I shall have
A rest I shall have
Yet death will be
but a pause.
For the peace of the years
in the long green grass,
Will be yours, and yours, and yours

Passion by Iris Clyde
I am distant from my passion
vivid only in my dreams
when in sleep we sometimes kiss
and in bliss roll naked
but awake I fear I shiver
numbed by chilly encounters
I need the heat of your breath on me
your lips greedily on my skin
to restore life to a body fading fast
your eyes scan dormant desire
and a flame flickers as I walk by you
whisper my name and a torch ignites

There is moments in life by Anon
There is moments in life
When you miss someone so much
That you just want to pick them from your dreams
And hug them for real!
When the door of happiness closes, another opens;
But often times we look so long at the closed door
That we don't see the one,
Which has been opened for us.
Don't go for looks; they can deceive.
Don't go for wealth; even that fades away.
Go for someone who makes you smile,
Because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.
Find the one that makes your heart smile.
Dream what you want to dream;
go where you want to go; be what you want to be,
Because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet,
Enough trials to make you strong,
Enough sorrow to keep you human and
Enough hope to make you happy.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past;
You can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.
When you were born, you were crying
And everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling
And everyone around you is crying.

Keith The Kangaroo by Janet Humphrey
Keith was a kangaroo
who was a hundred and three
Now that's an awfully old kangaroo
to you and me
But Keith didn't feel that old
he thought of himself as a roo
Someone who was in his prime
around the age of sexty-two.
His friend told him 'You're no spring chicken
be cardeful what you do.
For if you try to jump too high
Who knows what could happen to you'
Well, Keith took no notice
and said. 'Just you wait and see.
I'll show you just how high I can jump
Before mum calls me in for tea'

Dear Father by Anon
You may have thought I didn't see,
or that I hadn't heard,
Life lessons that you taught to me,
but I got every word.
Perhaps you thought I missed it all,
and that we'd grow apart,
But Dad, I picked up everything,
it's written on my heart.
Without you, Dad, I wouldn't be
the woman I am today;
you built a strong foundation
No one can take away.
I've grown up with your values,
And I'm very glad I did;
So here's to you, dear father,
From your forever grateful kid.

You Are My Heart by Peter Kelly
I will wait
for the mists
to clear
so I may at last
feel you near
I will stand
by the sea
watch the tide
so you will know
I cannot hide
I will look
on every star
see you there
in the moonlight
in the air
I will search
every path
keeping us apart
You are my heart

...Sex In The Sunshine - part six...
Anna suddenly felt frivolous and high-spirited. She didn’t know whether it was the heat from the penetrating sunshine or the passion from their combined bodies but she gazed deep into Charlie’s dark eyes and unexpectedly felt an intense rush of wanting for him.
She smiled at him and buried her face into his uncovered chest. Whilst kissing and nibbling his damp hair she let her hand fall to his masculine protrusion. She brushed her silky lips and then her moist tongue over his nipples while at the same time manoeuvred her lower body over him. He held her firmly and thrust his hips towards her.
‘Don’t move’ she whispered playfully into his ear. ‘I don’t want you to move, I’ll stop if you move your hips’.
His reaction to move was uncontrollable, he just couldn’t halt his hips and they continued to thrust towards her.
‘That’s it then’. She stated somewhat sternly. ‘I told you I’ll stop and I will, if you move again’.
It took all of his focus to obey her command. His eyes remained closed and his breathing was becoming shallow. His lips felt dehydrated with the anticipation of what she would do next and with an arid tongue he tried to wet them.
He was surprised at her taking control like this, it had never happened before but he liked it. He liked it so much that he didn’t know how much longer he could wait.
How long he could restrain the urge to unburden himself?

...Sex In The Sunshine - part five...

Charlie gently touched her face and caressed her chin and neck. He moved his large bronzed arm underneath the arch in her back, pulling her closer towards him. “God, you’re so beautiful”? He panted while smothering her with his feverish kisses.
She liked him saying things like that, even though she knew it wasn’t entirely true. Her nose was slightly too wide and her eyes were a little undersized, but she did have a great pair of legs and her tummy was well toned. She knew this was because of the daily run that she undertook each morning before going to the office and her weekend trips to the gym.
He continually encouraged her to move to the next stage, while talking dirty to her in a soft voice and skilfully running his hands all over her body. His fingertips lightly danced across her and every now and they teasingly ventured lower and lower.
She arched herself more towards him and the voice inside her head screamed. ‘Touch me, touch me now’. She wanted to, she always wanted to but the heat from the sun was stifling and the apprehension of getting caught held her back significantly.
Charlie knew this and reassured her by his continued whispers of encouragement. He knew she was nearly there and he didn’t mind how long it took her to feel at ease because he loved making love to her.

...Sex In The Sunshine - part four...

He confidently placed his thirsty mouth on top of hers. He knew that he was an accomplished kisser and she liked that. She liked the way he was ardent and limitless with his kisses, probing into her mouth with his strong, slender tongue and she felt a sense of power knowing just how little effort it took to turn him on.
“I thought you wanted to move to the shade of the tree?”. She gasped, as she took a shallow breathe in-between his penetrating kisses.
He didn’t reply but just continued to caress her in the way that she had become familiar with.
The seething heat from their bodies and the afternoon rays beat down on them equally as they fervently touched each other.
She sank deeper into the picnic rug, the coarseness of the fibres excited her now, whereas before she’s found them to be an annoyance. She curved her back ever so slightly towards him so as to feel the heat of his body through the thinness of his summer shorts.

...Sex And The Sunshine - part three...

…he never took his gaze from her glowing face, while raising his eyes in that intoxicating way of his he mouthed the words. “Come here”…
Anna moved teasingly towards him, making him think that she was instantly interested in his proposal. Charlie sat up and moved his hips slightly forward eagerly awaiting the touch of her lips.
Instead of undertaking what he sought, she just shook her head and let her long honey coloured hair loose and with a small giggle lifted her face back towards the fierce sun, at the same time she threw her shoulders back, just far enough for him to catch a glimpse of her cleavage. Anna knew that he would like that and it had the immediate effect that she envisaged it would.
She watched him shift restlessly from behind the safety of her designer tortoiseshell sunglasses and, with a smile pretended to be engrossed in the impressive view of the countryside.
He wasn’t fooled of course as she’d tried this deception before and with a quick but firm hold on her shoulder he pressed her down. Down onto the dryness of the picnic rug and hungrily sort out her mouth.
She knew that he would get what he wanted but she did her best to resist him, honestly she did….

...Sex In The Sunshine - part two...

…when the indulgence of eating finger food and sharing the fizzy pop was over, they were looking for something else to do…
-- two --
The air was becoming oppressive under the intense afternoon sun and the roughness of the picnic rug was scratchy against Anna's calf. She pulled her skirt up above her knees so that the soft wind could reach her exposed legs and cool them for a instant.
She inhaled deeply as the balmy breeze gently stroked her face leaving its flush there, and after a moment or two she leant back on her elbows.
Caressing the pleasant smelling grasses beside her, she turned to Charlie and tenderly smiled at him. She showed just a glimpse of her teeth while running her tongue over her parched lips in the sensual way that he liked.
Charlie was lying back on the rug with his left knee crooked, playing with the short body hair that lay under the belt of his khaki shorts. “Boy, it’s hot here, shall we move under the tree?”. He suggested, as he pulled his tee-shirt up over his dark chest hair.
He moved his hand up to his newly exposed torso and lightly started to massage it. It was damp & sweaty from the confinement of the garment.
He never took his gaze from her glowing face, while raising his eyes in that intoxicating way of his, he mouthed the words. “Come here”

...Sex In The Sunshine - part one...

-- one --
Charlie & Anna took the day off yesterday and had their first picnic together in the sunshine and it was glorious -- the weather was so warm & sultry. They found a secluded spot on a country lane with stunning views across the undulating hills and relaxed on the picnic rug and ate their lunch from a wicker hamper.
They basked in the sun rays for a couple of hours. There were only one or two vehicles passing on the isolated lane so their peace wasn’t disturbed. All they could hear was birdsong and the bleating of sheep that were in the adjoining field – it was bliss, utter bliss --
When the indulgence of eating finger food and sharing the fizzy pop was over and they were looking for something else to do….. they fooled around a little but that’s another story for another day --

...John Dryden...
THOUGHT FOR TODAY…do you love me because I'm beautiful, or am I beautiful because you love me…?
Happy The Man by John Dryden
Happy the man, and happy he alone,
He who can call today his own:
He who, secure within, can say,
Tomorrow do thy worst, for I have lived today.
Be fair or foul or rain or shine
The joys I have possessed, in spite of fate, are mine.
Not Heaven itself upon the past has power,
But what has been, has been, and I have had my hour.

...William Henry Davies...

Leisure by William Henry Davies
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this is if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

Life Still Has A Meaning by Anon
If there is a future there is time for mending-
Time to see your troubles coming to an ending.
Life is never hopeless however great your sorrow-
If you're looking forward to a new tomorrow.
If there is time for wishing then there is time for hoping-
When through doubt and darkness you are blindly groping.
Though the heart be heavy and hurt you may be feeling-
If there is time for praying there is time for healing.
So if through your window there is a new day breaking-
Thank God for the promise, though mind and soul be aching,
If with harvest over there is grain enough for gleaning-
There is a new tomorrow and life still has meaning.

What Colour Is The Rain, Mummy by Anon.
What colour is the rain, mummy?
There is no colour in the rain.
How can you see it then?
When the light shines through it glistens.
What colour is the wind mummy?
There is no colour in the wind.
It shakes the trees and waves the corn.
You cannot see the wind.
What colour is happy mummy?
Happy has no colour its a feeling and a warm glow.
Deep within your heart.
When you are near someone you love.
What colour is love mummy?
Love has no colour my dearest son.
It's what you feel for each other
The love I have for you, touching you.

To Margo by Gavin Ewart
In life's rough-and-tumble
you're the crumble on my apple crumble
and the fairy on my Christmas tree!
In life's death-and-duty
you've the beauty of the Beast's own beauty -
I feel humble as a bumble-bee!
In life's darkening duel
I'm the lighter, you're the lighter fuel-
and the tide that sways my inland sea!
In life's meet-and-muster
you've the lustre of a diamond cluster-
a blockbuster-just a duster, me!

Jenny Kissed Me by Leigh Hunt
Jenny kiss'd me when we met,
Jumping from the chair she sat in;
Time, you thief, who love to get
Sweets into your list, put that in!
Say I'm weary, say I'm sad,
Say that health and wealth have miss'd me,
Say I'm growing old, but add,
Jenny kiss'd me.

Troubles forecasted
And possible pain,
Take heart with the day and begin again.

...Thomas Hardy...

A Thunderstorm In Town by Thomas Hardy
She wore a ‘terra-cotta’ dress,
And we stayed, because of the pelting storm,
Within the hansom’s dry recess,
Though the horse had stopped; yea, motionless
We sat on, snug and warm.
Then the downpour ceased, to my sharp sad pain,
And the glass that had screened our forms before
Flew up, and out she sprang to her door:
I should have kissed her if the rain
Had lasted a minute more.

Sonnet II by Edna St Vincent Millay
Time does not bring relief; you all have lied
Who told me time would ease me of my pain!
I miss him in the weeping of the rain;
want him at the shrinking of the tide;
The old snows melt from every mountain-side,
And last year’s leaves are smoke in every lane;
But last year’s bitter loving must remain
Heaped on my heart, and my old thoughts abide!
There are a hundred places where I fear
To go,—so with his memory they brim!
And entering with relief some quiet place
Where never fell his foot or shone his face
I say, “There is no memory of him here!”
And so stand stricken, so remembering him!

...Aphra Behn...

The Willing Mistress by Aphra Behn
Amyntas lead me to a grove,
Where all the trees did shade us;
The sun itself, though it had strove,
It could not have betrayed us.
The place secured from human eyes
No other fear allows
But when the winds that gently rise
Do kiss the yielding boughs.
Down there we sat upon the moss,And did begin to play
A thousand amorous tricks, to pass
The heat of all the day.
A many kisses did he give
And I returned the same,
Which made me willing to receive
That which I dare not name.
His charming eyes no aid required
To tell their softening tale;
On her that was already fired,
'Twas easy to prevail.
He did but kiss and clasp me round,
Whilst those his thoughts expressed:
And laid me gently on the ground
Ah who can guess the rest?
